Iconic toy store returning to Alabama at popular outlet mall

The legendary toy retailer is making a splash back in Alabama. A brand new Toys “R” Us has officially opened its doors at a popular south Alabama shopping destination.

A New Addition to Tanger Outlets

Tanger Outlets in Foley shared the exciting news on Facebook this Tuesday, confirming that shoppers can now head to the center to browse the store's famous selection. According to the announcement, the new storefront is located in Suite 400, with the brand promising that "Geoffrey and the gang" are ready to welcome visitors to explore all their favorite toys.

The arrival of Toys “R” Us bolsters an already massive lineup of over 100 retailers and name-brand stores currently operating at the Tanger Outlets complex.

Evolution of a Retail Giant

The return of the iconic brand comes after a period of major structural shifts. Following a bankruptcy filing in 2018, the company was forced to pivot away from its traditional standalone store model, instead opting to house smaller shops inside existing retailers like Macy’s.

However, the brand has been steadily reclaiming its presence on the map. In 2025, Toys “R” Us announced a significant expansion, which included the launch of eight new flagship locations nationwide alongside dozens of seasonal stores.
