50 players Alabama fans need to know: The ‘awesome,’ experienced transfer on offense

Editor’s Note: As we countdown to the unofficial start of the college football season at SEC Media Days on July 20, 205focus.com is profiling one Alabama football player each day. Today, we turn our attention to transfer newcomer Racin Delgatty.

An Instant Impact in the Trenches

Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb didn't hold back when discussing the arrival of Cal Poly transfer Racin Delgatty. While the staff has been strategic with their personnel announcements, Grubb made it clear that the center position is in good hands.

Grubb noted during spring practice that Delgatty has been doing an "awesome job" since stepping onto campus. The offensive coordinator emphasized how quickly the transfer has taken the reins, signaling that Delgatty is the clear frontrunner to anchor the Tide's offensive line in 2026.

Filling the Void

The Crimson Tide are tasked with filling a significant hole at center following the departure of Parker Brailsford, who earned a selection in the fifth round of the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns after two seasons as a starter.

Alabama appears to be sticking to a specific physical profile at the position. Much like the 6-foot-2, 289-pound Brailsford, Delgatty possesses a similar frame. According to his official roster listing, he is roughly an inch taller and about 10 pounds heavier than his predecessor.

Experience Meets SEC Intensity

Despite being a newcomer, Delgatty arrives in Tuscaloosa with significant collegiate experience. He brings 22 games of action over three years at Cal Poly, including 11 starts during his final campaign. While transitioning from that level to the SEC presents a new challenge, the Alabama coaching staff is pleased with his development.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer praised Delgatty’s work ethic during the spring, highlighting how the player fully embraced the team's strength and conditioning program. According to DeBoer, significant gains in his strength numbers have translated into increased confidence on the field.

Coming Friday: We shift our focus to Crimson Tide receiver Cederian Morgan.
