Construction begins on Mountain Brook church’s new Crestline Park home
The campus will feature a sanctuary for 500 people

Construction is officially underway on a brand-new 28,000-square-foot home for St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Birmingham’s Crestline Park neighborhood.
Hoar Construction has broken ground at the intersection of Hagood Street and Dunston Avenue, marking a significant transition for the congregation as they prepare to move from their current location on Montevallo Road in Mountain Brook. This new campus is situated on 3.8 acres and is slated for completion by next summer.
A New Vision for St. Peter’s
The ambitious project, designed by LIVE Design Group with civil engineering by Schoel Engineering, promises a blend of traditional aesthetics and modern utility. The facility will center around a sanctuary capable of seating 500 people, complemented by administrative offices, classrooms, youth ministry areas, and fellowship spaces.
Architectural highlights include a bell tower, a handcrafted altar rail, large windows, and multiple covered porticos. Inside, the sanctuary will feature a striking ceiling defined by exposed glulam timbers. Designed with longevity in mind, the church also includes a mezzanine level that can be adapted to expand seating capacity as the congregation grows.
Expanding a Legacy
“We’re honored to help St. Peter’s invest in the future of its congregation by creating a new home that will support its ministry for decades to come,” said Ben Carmichael, Hoar project executive.
Hoar Construction brings significant experience to this development, having previously completed work for The Cathedral of St. Paul in downtown Birmingham and currently managing projects at Dawson Memorial Baptist in Homewood.
