3-star safety announces his commitment to Auburn

Auburn's momentum on the recruiting trail shows no signs of slowing down this summer. On Wednesday evening, the Tigers bolstered their 2027 recruiting class with a fresh pledge from three-star safety Knyair Crumb.

A New Addition to the Secondary

Crumb announced his decision to join the Auburn program during a live broadcast on the 247Sports YouTube channel. The Hyattsville, Maryland native ultimately chose the Tigers over a list of finalists that included Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse.

This commitment follows a successful official visit to the Plains on May 29. Crumb spoke highly of the coaching staff, specifically highlighting the influence of safeties coach Tim Banks.

Why Crumb Chose the Tigers

For Crumb, the decision came down to the proven pedigree of his future position coach. "He has a track record. He’s proven that he’s able to do the things that he preaches," Crumb said regarding Banks. "He’s not just telling me things that a lot of coaches would say just to get a recruit there. What he’s telling me I can fact check and really go back and look and see that he’s done it."

Building the 2027 Class

As a three-star recruit, Crumb is currently rated by 247Sports as the No. 515 overall player in the nation and the 48th-ranked safety. He is set to join four-star prospect Chance Gilbert in the secondary, marking the second safety commitment for the class. With this latest addition, the 205focus.com team notes that Auburn now holds 19 commitments for the 2027 cycle.
