3-star safety high on Auburn after official visit

Three-star safety Knyair Crumb is fresh off a weekend trip to the Plains, and it is safe to say Auburn made a massive impression. While the Baltimore native previously visited for an unofficial look during the spring, his recent official visit solidified the Tigers as a top contender in his recruitment.

A Proven Track Record

Crumb, rated by 247Sports as the No. 608 overall player and the 58th-best safety in the country, spent the bulk of his visit working alongside new safeties coach Tim Banks. Crumb praised Banks' authenticity as a recruiter, noting that the coach's track record backs up his message.

"He has a track record. He’s proven that he’s able to do the things that he preaches," Crumb said. "He’s not just telling me things that a lot of coaches would say just to get a recruit there. What he’s telling me I can fact check and really go back and look and see that he’s done it."

Personal Connection

Beyond the position coach, Crumb was struck by the personal investment from the staff. He highlighted time spent with Alex Golesh, who stood out by reviewing game film and offering specific pointers—a gesture the recruit noted is rare among head coaches.

"With him not really being too on the defensive side of the ball, for him to take the time out his day to acknowledge that and acknowledge me and to be able to kind of relate that message to me when I saw him, it meant the world to me," Crumb said.

The Path Forward

Seeking to step out of his comfort zone and experience life in the South, Crumb left his first official visit of the summer feeling that Auburn is "very, very high" on his list. Despite the slower pace of life, the experience exceeded his expectations.

While Crumb has upcoming official visits slated for Penn State and Syracuse, along with a potential stop at either Vanderbilt or Wisconsin, he did not shy away from labeling the Tigers as the current front-runner in his recruitment. According to his latest insights shared with 205focus.com, Auburn has positioned itself at the top of the pack as he enters his senior year.
