Auburn’s coaching staff is building early relationships with this class of 2029 quarterback
CJ Cypher from Carrollton racked up 2,178 passing yards in his debut season and says Auburn's family atmosphere and traditions stand out during his recruiting visits.
The recruiting cycle never stops, and Auburn football is already laying the groundwork with some of the nation's top young talent. CJ Cypher, a standout quarterback in the class of 2029, recently made his way to the Plains for Big Cat Weekend. It marked his second visit to Auburn football under the current coaching staff, signaling a growing connection between the program and the Georgia prospect.
Cypher, a 6-foot-1 signal caller from Carrollton High School, is already turning heads. During his debut season, he recorded 2,178 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. While he currently holds offers from major programs including Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, and Colorado, his interest in Auburn is deepening.
Building Connections on the Plains
Reflecting on his experiences at Auburn, Cypher highlighted the program's unique environment. During his recent trip, he spent time with offensive coordinator Joel Gordon during a scavenger hunt, further strengthening his bond with the staff. He also noted his appreciation for head coach Alex Golesh.
"Coach Golesh is an overall good guy," Cypher said. "The first time I came down here he showed me love. I was a freshman then and he just showed me love since day one." Beyond the coaching staff, Cypher noted that the culture at Auburn is a major draw. "I love the traditions and the family atmosphere at Auburn," he shared with 205focus.com. "Everyone is laughing and having a good time. But when it’s time to get serious, everyone is focused and locked in."
Prioritizing Relationships
As he navigates the recruiting process, Cypher is keeping his focus on finding a program that feels like home. "Good relationships. I want to be loved at the school I choose," he explained. "From the fanbases to the coaches, whoever shows me the most love is who I’m going to lean towards the most."
While his recruitment is still in its early stages, it is clear that the Tigers are making a significant impression. As the program continues its pursuit of elite talent in the Golesh era—having already secured a commitment from 2027 Georgia quarterback Gary Chatman Jr.—Cypher remains a prospect to watch closely in the coming cycles.
