Fan-favorite roller coaster finally reopens as Alabama amusement park teases big announcement
The wooden roller coaster opened in 1998 and became a landmark attraction before shutting down in 2024.
The wait is finally over for fans of Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure. The Bessemer amusement park has officially reopened its iconic wooden roller coaster, Rampage, ending a multi-year hiatus that left thrill-seekers eager for its return.
A Historic Return
Since its debut in 1998, the Rampage solidified its status as a must-visit landmark in the Southeast. Following its closure in 2024, the coaster remained a point of frequent inquiry from guests. Park officials confirmed the return via an Instagram announcement, celebrating the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"Rampage isn’t just another ride," said General Manager Devikeo Johnson. "For many of our guests, it’s a piece of Alabama Adventure history. It’s a coaster that generations of families have ridden together." According to Johnson, the coaster is now scheduled to operate daily, with doors opening at 12 p.m.
More Excitement on the Horizon
The return of the Rampage may only be the start of a busy weekend for the park. Officials have teased a "huge announcement" scheduled for Friday at noon.
Alex Ramsey, the park’s director of marketing, explained to WVTM 13 that the upcoming reveal involves another attraction long requested by visitors. "Friday marks the beginning of something special," Ramsey stated.
