Auburn is strengthening its position as a powerhouse for the automotive industry with the arrival of a major new player. Vulcaflex S.p.A, an Italian manufacturer specializing in advanced synthetic leathers for vehicle interiors, has announced plans to build its first U.S. factory in the city.

A Major Investment in Auburn

The project represents a nearly $70 million investment and is slated to create 130 new jobs. Site preparation is already underway at the company's future home in Auburn Technology Park West.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey welcomed the news, noting that Vulcaflex will benefit from the state's skilled workforce and its proven track record in the automotive sector.

Global Reach from Local Roots

Founded in 1965 in Cotignola, Italy, the family-owned company sees the Auburn site as a strategic hub for North American operations. According to CEO Roberto Bozzi, the factory will supply high-quality materials to automotive manufacturers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Bozzi emphasized that blending Italian design with local production will allow the company to better support its global partners.

Hiring and Training Opportunities

The company is preparing for a busy recruitment phase, with plans to begin hiring lead technicians this fall. These team members will receive specialized training at Vulcaflex's headquarters in Ravenna, Italy. Interested candidates should monitor WorkInAuburn.com for upcoming job postings.

Vulcaflex is the latest in a series of automotive suppliers choosing Auburn for expansion this year. Recent projects include:

  • Kamtec Auto USA, which announced a $9.2 million facility set to employ 50 people.
  • DUCK IL USA, a South Korean firm investing $21 million to expand its Technology Park West operations.
  • Vertex Innovations, which is investing $13.5 million to create 45 new jobs in the area.
