Construction begins on Mountain Brook church’s new Crestline Park home

Construction is officially underway on a brand-new 28,000-square-foot home for St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Birmingham’s Crestline Park neighborhood. Hoar Construction has broken ground at the intersection of Hagood Street and Dunston Avenue, marking a significant expansion for the congregation currently based on Montevallo Road in Mountain Brook.

A New Vision for Crestline Park

The upcoming campus, situated on 3.8 acres, is designed to serve as a long-term hub for the church's mission. The facility will center around a sanctuary capable of hosting 500 people. Beyond the main worship hall, the project includes classrooms, administrative offices, fellowship spaces, and a dedicated area for youth ministry. To accommodate future growth, architects included a mezzanine level specifically designed to allow for expanded seating capacity as the congregation evolves.

Craftsmanship and Design

The project, which is being spearheaded by LIVE Design Group as the architect and Schoel Engineering for civil engineering services, features a unique aesthetic. Planned design elements include a bell tower, large windows, multiple covered porticos, and a columbarium. Inside, the sanctuary will highlight exposed glulam timbers on the ceiling alongside a handcrafted altar rail.

"We’re honored to help St. Peter’s invest in the future of its congregation by creating a new home that will support its ministry for decades to come," said Ben Carmichael, project executive at Hoar Construction. The firm brings extensive experience to the table, having completed projects for The Cathedral of St. Paul in downtown Birmingham and performing ongoing work at Dawson Memorial Baptist in Homewood.
