13-year-old injured in east Birmingham shooting; 1 detained for questioning
East Precinct officers were dispatched at 3 a.m. Thursday to a report of a person shot in the 1100 block of Carnation Drive.
A young teen is recovering after a shooting early Thursday morning in east Birmingham. According to 205focus.com, local authorities were called to the scene to investigate the violent incident.
Investigation Underway
East Precinct officers arrived at the 1100 block of Carnation Drive at approximately 3 a.m. on Thursday following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a 13-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to Children’s of Alabama to receive treatment for serious injuries. Officer De’Rell Freeman confirmed that the boy’s condition has since been upgraded to stable, and he is expected to survive.
Police Detain Person of Interest
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement officials have detained one person of interest. That individual was transported to police headquarters for questioning as the investigation continues.
