According to James Carville, President Donald Trump is unlikely to complete his second term in office, suggesting a resignation is on the horizon due to intense personal and legal pressures.

In a recent appearance on The Daily Beast Podcast, Carville theorized that Trump will step down for reasons rooted in political survival. Carville argued that the President is poised to face a significant defeat this November, noting that his influence is already beginning to wane. Per HuffPost, Carville claimed, "His power is going to just seep right out. No one’s going to even care."
The strategist believes this momentum will accelerate following the upcoming midterm elections. Should Republicans lose their grip on the House or the Senate, Carville expects a surge in Democratic-led congressional investigations. Trump himself has previously acknowledged the possibility of a third impeachment trial should Democrats regain control of the House.
A Calculated Exit Strategy
Carville paints a specific picture of how such a resignation would unfold: a tactical move to evade legal jeopardy. He suggests that the President would hand over the reins to Vice President JD Vance with the explicit requirement that Vance issue a blanket pardon for him immediately upon taking office.
"He calls in JD Vance, and he says, ‘JD, I’ve decided I’m going to resign. I’m going to go back. You’re going to be the president, but your first act, that I have right here, as soon as you’re sworn in, you’re going to sign a pardon. Pardon me for everything imaginable,’" Carville stated. He went further to insist that even if Trump were to finish his term, he would likely resign shortly before its conclusion just to ensure that legal protection is secured.
