North Alabama reporter leaving station

A familiar face is moving on from north Alabama television. Reporter and multimedia journalist Emily Moessner has officially departed WHNT News 19, marking the end of a four-and-a-half-year tenure with the station.

Moessner confirmed her exit on Facebook, noting that May 21st served as her final day on-air. While she kept her future plans private, she shared a heartfelt message with her viewers: “Leaving is bittersweet but I’m excited for what lies ahead! Thank you, Huntsville!”

A member of the News 19 team since January 2022, Moessner’s departure follows a series of recent changes at the station.

Recent Staffing Shifts

Moessner is the latest in a string of recent staff exits at the station. Earlier this year, in February, meteorologist Aaron Ayers announced his departure. The Huntsville native has since transitioned into a new role as a research associate at the Earth System Science Center at UAH.

That same month, morning anchor Ellie Byrd announced she was leaving her post. Byrd, an Auburn native, ultimately moved on to a new professional opportunity based in Nashville.
