Ohio neighborhood is searching for answers after a child’s death
A 6-year-old boy died after a shooting inside a Youngstown home. Police and the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

A Youngstown, Ohio neighborhood is in mourning after a tragic incident left a 6-year-old boy dead. Authorities are currently investigating the fatal shooting, which occurred inside a west side residence on Monday afternoon, as reported by The Vindicator.
Investigation Underway
Police were dispatched to a home on Plum Street shortly after 4 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, responding officers found the child suffering from a gunshot wound in a bedroom and immediately attempted emergency lifesaving measures, according to WKBN. Despite these efforts, the child was pronounced dead after being transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Detectives and crime scene investigators have processed the scene, located near Oak Hill Cemetery. At this time, officials have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the shooting or clarified how the child sustained the wound.

The Youngstown Police Department, in partnership with the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, continues to treat the case as an active investigation. While information remains limited, authorities stressed that no further details will be provided while the case is under review.
