Trump says he could win election to lead another country after being president: ‘I’m at 99%’

President Donald Trump suggested on Wednesday that his political appeal extends far beyond American borders, claiming he holds enough popularity to secure an election victory as prime minister in Israel.

Polling at 99%?

Trump, speaking to reporters, floated the idea of taking his political career overseas once his current term concludes. "I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I can run for prime minister, so maybe after I do this, I’ll go to Israel and run for prime minister. I had a poll this morning, I’m 99%," Trump stated.

The president’s comments followed his public support for current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump described Netanyahu as a "great guy" who has been treated unfairly during his tenure as a wartime leader.

A Global Political Ambition

At 79 years old, this is not the first instance where Trump has discussed potential leadership roles in other nations. Just last month, he asserted that he maintains significant support in Venezuela following the arrest of Nicolas Maduro.

According to Yahoo, Trump claimed his popularity there outpaces any previous political figure, stating, "The people of Venezuela say that if I ran for president there, I’m polling higher than anybody has ever polled in Venezuela. So after I’m finished with this, I can go to Venezuela."

Regarding the potential language barrier in a Venezuelan campaign, Trump expressed confidence in his abilities. "It won’t take too long," he noted, adding, "I’m good at languages, and I will go to Venezuela. I’m going to run for president. But we’re very happy with the president-elect we have right now."
