A violent confrontation erupted on a charter bus in the parking lot of a Bessemer Walmart on Monday afternoon, leaving four individuals stabbed and a suspect in police custody.

Incident Details

Bessemer police and fire crews were dispatched to the Academy Drive location at approximately 1:13 p.m. following reports of the altercation. Authorities have confirmed that the bus was transporting 40 employees from Fess Security, based in New Orleans, who were returning to Louisiana after working the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee.

According to Lt. Chris Selman, the chaotic scene began in the back of the bus after the group had returned to the vehicle following a stop at the retail store. Investigators believe the fight was sparked by a dispute over a woman.
