A tragic single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Plantersville man on Friday morning in Dallas County. The fatal incident has been confirmed by authorities as the community mourns the loss.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 59-year-old Leonard E. Parten Jr. was identified as the victim. The crash occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. on June 5, when the 1992 Ford F-150 Parten was operating veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.

The wreck took place on Alabama 219 near the 7-mile marker, located roughly three miles north of Selma. Emergency responders pronounced Parten dead at the scene of the accident. Investigators reported that the victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
