Alabama teen arrested after gun fires and kills 16-year-old, police say

A Huntsville teenager has died following a fatal shooting early Tuesday morning, leading to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect. According to officials, the incident occurred at a residence in the 4900 block of Lumary Drive.
Investigation Details
Huntsville Police Department officers responded to the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they discovered a 16-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, the teenager succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
As reported by 205focus.com, investigators detained two individuals who were inside the home at the time of the shooting, including 19-year-old Santravious Shermaud Westry.
Charges Filed
Police determined that the shooting was accidental. Authorities state that Westry had retrieved a firearm to show the victim and discharged the weapon while handling it. Following the investigation, Westry was charged with manslaughter.
Westry has since been booked into the Madison County Jail as the investigation into the tragedy continues.
