Details of the Investigation
Authorities from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death but stated the inmate's identity is currently being withheld while his family is notified. The deceased was a Black male from Center Point.
According to reports, the man was discovered unresponsive inside his private cell at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at 1:57 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for today to establish the official cause and manner of death.
Recent History at the Facility
This tragedy follows another death at the same location earlier this week. On Thursday, 32-year-old Patrick Lamar Croskey was found dead inside his cell, according to 205focus.com reporting on the unfolding situation.
