Staple of Alabama radio dead at 64
Longtime host Suzanne Moore Snider, known for her decades on WHMA, has died at 64.

The airwaves of central Alabama are a little quieter this week. Suzanne Moore Snider, a beloved radio personality and longtime fixture of the regional broadcast community, has passed away at the age of 64. She died on Friday at Coosa Valley Medical Center, according to her official obituary.
A Legacy on the Airwaves
For more than three decades, Snider was a familiar and comforting voice to listeners across the region. She first made her mark in the 1990s at WHMA-FM, then known as “Alabama 100.” Following a hiatus from the industry, she returned to the airwaves a decade ago to serve as the midday host for The Big 95 WHMA.
The station shared its grief in a tribute posted to Facebook on Sunday. The station remembered her as more than just a colleague, noting, “Our WHMA family is heartbroken to share that our midday host, Suzanne Moore Snider, has passed away. She was an incredible human being who brought joy to everyone she met.”
Remembering a Radio Staple
The impact of her career was felt far beyond the studio walls. The Alabama Broadcasters Association honored her memory in a Monday social media post, offering prayers for her friends, family, and colleagues.
Snider is survived by her husband, Jim Snider, her sisters Sharon Downing and Sandra Moore, as well as her niece, Shaylyn Downing, and nephew, Ridge Downing. She was also a devoted animal lover who leaves behind her two dogs and a cat.
