Important deadline fast approaching for Huntsville city election
Three council seats, two school board seats on ballot on Aug. 25.

The clock is ticking for Huntsville residents looking to make their voices heard. With the municipal election set for August 25, the deadline to register to vote is rapidly approaching on Monday, August 10.
What is on the Ballot?
Voters will head to the polls to decide key races across the city. This includes City Council seats for District 2, District 3, and District 4. Additionally, citizens will cast ballots for Huntsville City Schools Board of Education seats in District 2 and District 3.
In the school board race for District 4, incumbent Ryan Renaud was the only candidate to qualify, resulting in a declared reelection by the City Council. Other local leaders, including Mayor Tommy Battle and Council members Michelle Watkins (District 1) and John Meredith (District 5), remain in their roles until their terms expire in 2028.
How to Register and Vote
To ensure your eligibility, you can register online through the Alabama Secretary of State’s office. Residents also have the option to mail a registration form to their respective county board of registrars or request a form to be mailed from the Secretary of State’s office at: P.O. Box 5616, Montgomery, AL 36103. If you are unsure of your current registration status, you can verify it online.
For those opting for absentee voting, the clock is also moving. Applications for absentee ballots by mail must be submitted by August 18, while in-person applications are accepted until August 20. Emergency absentee ballots are available through August 24. All absentee ballots must be postmarked by August 24 and received by noon on August 25. These should be mailed to City Clerk Shaundrika Edwards, Election Manager, P.O. Box 308, Huntsville, AL 35801.
