39-year-old Madison County jail inmate dies
He was booked into jail a day earlier for domestic violence charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a 39-year-old man has passed away following a medical emergency at the Madison County Jail.
Incident Overview
The inmate, identified as Tyneika Dragg, was discovered unresponsive in his cell on Sunday. Despite immediate intervention from jail and medical nursing staff, followed by intensive resuscitation efforts from the Huntsville Fire Department and HEMSI, those attempts were unsuccessful. Dragg was pronounced dead on the afternoon of May 17.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reported that Dragg had been booked into the facility just one day prior to his death on charges related to domestic violence. At this time, the Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating the circumstances of the incident, while an official cause of death remains pending an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

This incident adds to a troubling history of fatalities at the facility.
