Grocery store chain opening another Huntsville area location

Huntsville-area residents have another grocery destination to look forward to as Food City prepares to open its newest location in Athens on July 22. This arrival marks the fifth of six planned stores the company has slated for the Huntsville market.

Store Details and Amenities

The expansive 57,000-square-foot facility, situated on Lucas Ferry Road, is scheduled to open its doors to the public at 8 a.m. Food City CEO Steven Smith noted that the previous four locations in the market have already seen a positive reception from local shoppers.

The new Athens store is packed with high-end features designed to elevate the shopping experience, including:

  • A bakery and deli featuring a hot food bar and a fresh food bar with salads, soups, and fruit.
  • A hickory wood smoker and fresh, made-to-order sushi.
  • Full-service meat and seafood departments alongside expanded produce and frozen aisles.
  • A Food City Floral Boutique staffed daily by a professional designer.
  • Additional conveniences such as a pharmacy, a Food City Gas N’ Go station, a Starbucks café, and full catering services.

Convenience at Your Fingertips

For those on the go, the new location will offer curbside pickup and home delivery services for online orders. As 205focus.com reported, the parent company currently operates 162 retail outlets spanning across Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.

"Our customers can expect exceptional service, top-quality products at the lowest possible prices, and outstanding variety and selection," Smith said regarding the expansion.
