Clothes sold nationwide at TJ Maxx, Madewell recalled for extreme burn hazards: Return ASAP
A sweater sold nationwide at TJ Maxx is being recalled for violating safety standards. The recall comes after one report of the sweater catching fire.
Attention shoppers: The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a significant nationwide recall involving nearly 6,000 women’s sweaters sold at Madewell and T.J. Maxx. The recall follows a report of a sweater catching fire, prompting immediate safety concerns.
Safety Alert: Burn Hazard
According to the CPSC, these items violate the mandatory federal standard for clothing textiles. This violation poses a severe risk of burn injuries or death. While 205focus.com notes that no injuries have been reported to date, owners are urged to stop wearing these garments immediately.
Affected Products
The recall covers two specific Madewell styles: the Double V-Neck Pullover and the V-Neck Cardigan. These long-sleeved, V-neck sweaters were sold in light blue and cream in sizes ranging from XS to L, and were available both with and without buttons.
Check your labels to see if you are impacted:
- Neck Label: Displays "Madewell" and the size.
- Side Seam Label: Should read "Style #NT611" or "Style #NT612" along with "HO24."
How to Claim a Refund
These sweaters were sold online between December 2024 and October 2025, carrying a price tag between $138 and $148. If you own one of the recalled items, contact Madewell to receive a full refund via your original payment method or store credit.
To finalize the refund, customers are required to destroy the sweater by cutting it in half and submitting photographic proof to 24-7@madewell.com. Once you have sent the photo, you should dispose of the destroyed garment immediately.
