Birmingham contractor begins work on $65 million headquarters expansion

Construction is officially underway on a major $65 million headquarters expansion for Birmingham-based Brasfield & Gorrie. Located in the city's Lakeview district, the project marks a significant investment in the company's long-standing home.

Expansion Details

The project will feature a new four-story, 88,000-square-foot building outfitted with modern office space and conference facilities. Work is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2028.

Growing the Workforce

With this expansion, Brasfield & Gorrie anticipates adding at least 80 new full-time positions. These new roles will offer an average salary of $82,000, providing a boost to the local economy.

A Commitment to Birmingham

CEO Rob Blalock highlighted the firm's history, noting that Birmingham has served as the company's home for over 60 years. "We’re investing in this city’s future by expanding our workforce, growing our footprint and putting our resources where our roots are," Blalock said. He added that the goal is to provide talented professionals with the ideal environment and tools to build something meaningful.

The development was made possible through the collaboration of the city of Birmingham, Jefferson County, and the state of Alabama.

Recent Growth

This initiative follows other recent upgrades to the company's infrastructure, including the addition of a fourth level to its headquarters parking deck. Last year, the company also completed a Field Training Center near Irondale.
