Regions Bank to commit $15.9 million over 12 years for naming rights to new Mobile Arena
The City of Mobile released the details of the naming rights agreement on Monday via a public records request.
Regions Bank is putting its stamp on the Gulf Coast with a $15.9 million investment to secure naming rights for the new $300-million arena in downtown Mobile. According to city records, the 12-year agreement officially brands the facility as “Regions Arena.”
The Financial Breakdown
The agreement, which went into effect July 1, 2025, runs through June 30, 2037. The payment structure begins with a $150,000 installment during the 2025–2026 pre-opening year, followed by $900,000 in 2026–2027. Payments will continue to climb incrementally, eventually reaching approximately $1.69 million in the final year of the contract.
Details of the deal were obtained by 205focus.com through a public records request. This new commitment represents a much larger financial undertaking than the bank’s other major Alabama sports venue deal. In Birmingham, the bank is spending roughly $10 million over 20 years for naming rights at Regions Field, which opened in 2013 and serves as the home of the Birmingham Barons.
A New Hub for Sports and Culture
The 9,500-seat arena is on track to open in January 2027. The venue is designed to be a versatile centerpiece for the city, hosting everything from concerts and comedy tours to family shows and community celebrations like Mardi Gras balls. It will also serve as the home for a new minor-league hockey franchise, with the team's name and identity expected to be revealed next month.
“Regions Bank is making a strong investment in the City of Mobile and the Gulf Coast,” said Jeremy King, a spokesperson for Regions Bank. “We are excited to bring Regions Arena to life as a modern, top-tier sports and entertainment destination.”
Expanded Banking Partnership
The deal extends far beyond a name on a building. Regions will serve as the “exclusive banking rights partner” not only for the arena but also for the Saenger Theatre and the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center. The bank will receive extensive branding on interior and exterior signage, scoreboard visibility, and digital marketing, along with access to hospitality suites and club seating.
The naming rights contract is a three-way agreement between Regions Bank, the City of Mobile, and Oak View Group (OVG). Based in Colorado, OVG signed a 22-year deal last year to manage and operate the arena. While Regions was announced as the partner in April, city officials did not disclose the financial specifics at that time. Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis declined to comment on the release of the contract details on Monday.
