On Tuesday morning, Trump took to his Truth Social account to sound off on the ongoing migration of wealthy residents and corporations away from blue states. In his post, the president claimed, “Rich people and Companies are pouring out of Dumocrat run Blue States at levels never seen before! If this trend continues, these States will become the ‘Ghettos’ of the Future — No people, no money, no hope."
Backlash and Accusations
The president's choice of the word “ghetto” ignited a swift reaction from critics who labeled the rhetoric as racist. One X user remarked, “He keeps telling yall he’s racist and yall continue to defend him.” Another user suggested the language aligns with the behavior of a “fascist regime leader.”
Claims of Hypocrisy
Beyond the racial allegations, many critics highlighted what they described as blatant hypocrisy. Popular X account Covie pointed out that these same blue cities recently hosted the World Cup that the president has been bragging about. Others, including @swd2, suggested that Trump should divest from his New York and New Jersey assets if he truly believes his own narrative, accusing him of creating controversy simply for clicks.
Spelling and Scandals
The post also drew mockery for the president's misspelling of “Democrat” as “Dumocrat.” This comes shortly after Trump was previously mocked for attempting to teach people that “dumb” is spelled with a B. Critics on social media were quick to point out the irony, with one user noting, “Didn’t Trump learn that dumb was spelled with a b? He needs to get rid of his properties in New Yor.”
