4 charged with trying to smuggle drugs, knives, cell phones into Alabama prison
Four people were arrested in incidents at Ventress Correctional Facility in Barbour County.
Four individuals are facing serious charges following a pair of smuggling attempts at the Ventress Correctional Facility in Barbour County. According to 205focus.com reporting, Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) officials intercepted large stashes of contraband in separate incidents this past week.
Tuesday Intercept: Weapons and Massive Drug Haul
The first operation unfolded Tuesday near the prison in Clayton. After responding to reports of a trespasser on the grounds, authorities stopped a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Sabrina Nicole Johnson. Following a search of the area, investigators located 39-year-old Jasmine Kendale Williams, a former ADOC inmate, hiding near the woods on Alabama 239.
The recovery from this incident was extensive, including 40 grams of amphetamine/methamphetamine tablets, 780 grams of marijuana, 34 grams of sprayed paper, and 19 cell phones. Also seized were four folding knives, 11 sets of wireless earbuds, 20 USB cables, and various drug paraphernalia, including digital scales and multiple cigars. Both suspects now face a suite of charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, promoting prison contraband, and trespassing.
Wednesday Arrests: Follow-up Investigation
The crackdown continued on Wednesday when ADOC investigators tracked a vehicle linked to a previous trespassing incident from May 11. ADOC and the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office executed a traffic stop near the junction of Highway 239 and McCall Road, detaining 21-year-old Eryanah Me ‘Cole Amison.
Law enforcement also discovered 21-year-old Terrell Demarion Clements near the facility property in possession of two packages wrapped in black tape. These contained 298 grams of marijuana along with additional cell phones and charging equipment. Both Amison and Clements have been booked into the Barbour County Jail on charges of promoting prison contraband and possession of marijuana.
