Child shot in the face flown to Birmingham hospital

An investigation is underway after a child was shot in the face Monday in Autauga County. Few details have been released, but sheriff’s officials said the shooting happened on Bridge Creek Road. The child was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham in critical, but stable, condition. Autauga County Sheriff Mark Harrell said the investigation is ongoing to determine if the shooting was accidental. “Adults need to be sure to secure all weapons, especially as children will be at home more often as school comes to a close,” Harrell said. “Please keep the juvenile in your prayers.”
