Chris Christie warns Trump is becoming ‘the one person he never wanted to be’
The former New Jersey governor said Trump made a major unforced error.

Former New Jersey governor and one-time Donald Trump ally Chris Christie claims that the former president is currently grappling with his own worst nightmare.
According to Christie, Trump is now finding himself in a position strikingly similar to the leader he frequently relentlessly mocks: Jimmy Carter. Christie argues that Trump, who has long viewed Carter as the country’s most inept leader, has brought this reality upon himself through a major unforced error involving the Iran war.
A Strategic Misstep
Speaking with Jonathan Karl on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopolous,” Christie laid out his concerns regarding the current geopolitical situation. "The real problem here is it was an adventure without a plan," Christie stated.
The comparison became clear to Christie after Iran issued a list of demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. These demands include the release of frozen assets, the lifting of sanctions, and the payment of war reparations.
Holding the Economy Hostage
Christie highlighted the severity of the current standoff, noting that Iran's actions have placed Trump in a corner he never intended to occupy. "What struck me was that Donald Trump is about to become what he never, ever wanted to be: Jimmy Carter," Christie remarked.
"He is being held hostage by Iran. They are holding the Strait of Hormuz hostage. As a result, they’re holding the world economy hostage, and it’s focused at Donald Trump," Christie added.
Reflecting on his two-decade-long acquaintance with the former president, Christie concluded that this outcome is particularly ironic. "I know from talking to him over the last 24 years, the one person he would never want to be is Jimmy Carter. And here we are. And it was all voluntary," Christie said.
