Richards, a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, joined the Panthers staff during the 2016-17 season. During his tenure in Florida, he played a role behind the scenes for the team’s back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

His career also includes significant work on the international stage. Richards served as the equipment manager for the U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team that captured gold at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, and he was also a member of the Team USA staff for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off.

Before his time with the Panthers, Richards spent 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.
