‘I Just Love Him’: Nicki Minaj Doubles Down on Support for Donald Trump

Hip-hop legend Nicki Minaj is making her political stance crystal clear, offering a defiant response to critics who have questioned her support for President Donald Trump. Appearing on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” this past Friday, the “Super Bass” artist doubled down on her admiration for the president while discussing her involvement in his administration’s “Million Dollar Pitch Competition” for small businesses.

Minaj, who has previously dubbed herself Trump’s “No. 1 fan,” told host Laura Ingraham that she felt privileged to participate in the initiative. “I am honored to be able to have an opportunity to work with this administration and to work with President Trump,” she said, noting that his leadership has reached far beyond her own perspective. “He has inspired many people, not just me. He’s fun,” she added, per Billboard.

During the interview, the rapper described a personal connection to Trump that transcends politics. She characterized him as “grounded” and relatable, stating that he is “not just the president,” but someone who makes it easy for others to feel heard. “Every time I see him, or every time I see him speaking to other people, he’s just himself,” Minaj explained. “It’s easy to connect with him. It’s easy to feel like he heard you, he understands you. I just love him. I’m not going to ever make excuses for that.”

When Ingraham pressed the artist on how she responds to the backlash sparked by her alignment with the administration, Minaj was blunt. She stated she has “absolutely nothing” to say to her detractors, adding, “I don’t know why I should.”

The admiration appears to be mutual. During a luncheon in July, President Trump invited Minaj to stand and receive recognition from the crowd. He praised the rapper as a “fantastic person” and a “woman that’s respected by everybody,” highlighting her “real talent” and calling her a “great person.”
