Longtime Regions executive retires, company announces leadership changes

Birmingham-based Regions Financial is set for a shakeup in its executive ranks, announcing a series of leadership transitions that will take hold in the coming weeks.

End of an Era

Dave Keenan, a veteran fixture at the company for over two decades, is set to retire at the end of the year. Keenan, who served as chief administrative officer since 2020 and previously spent a decade leading human resources, first joined the organization during its time with predecessor AmSouth.

"It’s never easy to step away from something you love, but the timing is right for me personally, and the bank has excellent talent ready to step up to their next level of leadership," Keenan said. He is slated to move into a leadership advisory role on Sept. 1 to help guide the company through the transition.

Leadership Transitions

The departure of Keenan triggers several internal movements. Kate Danella, the company’s current head of consumer banking, is tapped to succeed him as CAO. John Jordan will step into the role of head of consumer banking, while Chief People Officer Angela Santone will move to report directly to Regions CEO John Turner.

Turner praised Keenan’s long-standing impact on the firm in a statement provided to 205focus.com.

"Dave’s leadership has strengthened every part of Regions Bank, and his commitment to developing future leaders positions us well for continued growth," Turner said. "His sound judgment and unwavering commitment to doing what is right made Regions a stronger company and a better place to work. The impacts of his service will continue, and in the coming months, we will celebrate his contributions while ensuring a seamless transition."

Danella, Jordan, and Santone will begin moving into their new positions immediately.
