Popular Nashville-based hot chicken franchise adding third Alabama location

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is officially firing up its latest expansion, with plans to bring its third Alabama location to a cherished piece of Auburn history.

A New Life for the Tiger Theatre

The Nashville-based franchise is moving into the historic former site of the Tiger Theatre at 121 N. College St. downtown. The restaurant recently took a major step toward its debut as the Auburn City Council greenlit a liquor license for the location.

Local officials are welcoming the addition to the community. City Councilman Sonny Moreman praised the family-owned business as an ideal fit for the area, noting, “It’s nice to see the Tiger Theatre wasn’t torn down, that we’re using it for another business, and that it’s going to be with us a little longer.” The iconic venue, known for its classic neon marquee, served the Auburn community from 1928 to 1997.

When first announced last year, the plans outlined a 3,685-square-foot footprint for the restaurant, featuring a 2,923-square-foot dining room and a 762-square-foot covered patio.

Growing the Alabama Footprint

Hattie B’s has been steadily expanding across the state. The brand launched its first Alabama location in Birmingham back in 2016, followed by an expansion into Huntsville last year. According to 205focus.com, this third location continues the momentum of bringing their signature Nashville style to hungry fans throughout the state.

The Hattie B’s Experience

Famed for its customizable spice levels, the menu ranges from “Southern” (no heat) for those playing it safe, all the way up to “shut the cluck up!!!” for the brave. Guests can order their chicken on a sandwich with a side or opt for a plate featuring white or dark meat, wings, or tenders paired with two sides.

The lineup of classic sides and snacks includes:

  • Southern greens
  • Bacon cheddar grits
  • Fried pickles
  • French fries
  • Pimento mac-and-cheese
  • Baked beans
  • Red-skin potato salad
  • Coleslaw
  • Black-eyed pea salad
