Teen dead from accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound to head at Alabama shopping center

The community is mourning the loss of 19-year-old Levi Cotton, who passed away following an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound earlier this week. Loved ones are currently rallying to raise funds for his burial and final expenses.
Tragic Accident in Oxford
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Oxford Exchange shopping center in Oxford. Police were called to the scene at 7:40 p.m., where they discovered Cotton suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency personnel provided initial treatment before transporting him to UAB Hospital. Cotton ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.
A Legacy of Generosity
Oxford Police Chief Daniel Phipps highlighted Cotton’s character in the wake of the tragedy. "Mr. Cotton was an organ donor, and in the midst of this tragic loss, his selfless decision will provide the gift of life to others," Chief Phipps said. "We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. On behalf of the Oxford Police Department, I ask our community to keep Mr. Cotton’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve this devastating loss."
