3 horses stabbed, ‘brutally tortured’ by teen girl at Las Vegas barrel race, police say

A Disturbing Incident at South Point Casino
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were called to the 9700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on Saturday following reports of injured horses. Investigators determined the suspect, who had access to the barn facilities, used a knife to inflict multiple wounds on three animals. While the horses are expected to survive, the injuries were significant enough to force them out of the competition.

Competitor Hailey Krahenbuhl shared on Facebook that her horse, Sully, was among those attacked and is currently in recovery after receiving stitches. Arielle Phillips, the owner of another horse named Detail, described the ordeal as a targeted act, alleging that the teenage suspect had been following her on social media for some time before approaching her at the stall the night prior to the attack.
Legal Consequences
Authorities apprehended the teen at a nearby hotel. She has since been booked on 12 counts of willful or malicious killing, maiming, or torturing of an animal, as well as three felony counts of malicious destruction of private property involving amounts over $5,000.
