Alabama Storms Cause Street Flooding and Statewide Power Outages

Thunderstorms unleashed heavy rain across parts of Alabama on Sunday evening, causing significant disruptions.

Jefferson, Shelby, and Tuscaloosa counties experienced flash flooding in streets and creeks. Wesley Lollar reported wading through deep water in Tuscaloosa, though his house remained safe.

Scattered power outages impacted about 10,000 people across the state.

Homewood's Woodland Drive was submerged, and Cahaba Heights in Jefferson County saw downed trees and flooded streets.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Jefferson and Shelby counties, in effect until 7:45 p.m.
