Another restaurant to open at sprawling $242 million Shelby County development
The development has had two businesses open this week.
The massive $242 million development in Alabaster, Shoppes of District 31, is keeping the momentum alive with yet another exciting business arrival.
New Flavors Arriving
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is the latest tenant set to join the lineup, with a grand opening scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14. Located at 725 First Ave. S., the new spot will serve up their signature wraps, bowls, sandwiches, and fresh smoothies. The chain is pulling out all the stops for their debut: the first 50 dine-in customers will walk away with free smoothies for an entire year.
A Busy Week for District 31
The sprawling 80-acre project is hitting its stride this summer after nearly two years of heavy construction. Business has been brisk this week alone, with Panera Bread and Aspen Dental officially opening their doors to the public.
More to Come
The project is set to bring approximately 600,000 square feet of retail, hotel, and restaurant space to the region. Several other popular names have already established a presence or are currently in the works, including:
- First Watch
- Nothing Bundt Cakes
- Shake Shack
- Hollywood Feed
- Cava
Economic Impact
City officials are banking on the success of the development, which is projected to generate an estimated $2.8 million annually in new city sales taxes and an additional $1.4 million for local schools.
