After 32 years in business, Birmingham’s Rib-It-Up announced on Facebook that it will close permanently.
The popular barbecue spot on First Avenue North cited "the evolving economic landscape and challenges in hiring additional staff" as reasons for the closure.
“We are immensely proud of the journey we have shared with you,” the Facebook post stated. “Rib-It-Up has been a place where friends and family have gathered, celebrated, and created countless memories. Your unwavering support and loyalty have been the heart of our success, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.”
The post went on to highlight the joy, laughter, and togetherness experienced at the restaurant, thanking the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to provide the best food and experience.
“Thank you for being a part of the Rib-It-Up family. We will always cherish the moments we shared and the community we built together. Though our doors may be closing, the memories and friendships forged here will remain with us forever,” the post concluded.
Initially scheduled to be closed until Tuesday, July 16, after the July 4 holiday, the restaurant decided not to reopen and instead shut its doors permanently.
Located behind The Platinum of Birmingham night club, Rib-It-Up Barbecue was renowned for its ribs with extra sauce, loaded baked potatoes, and extensive selection of sides.
