Birmingham brewery closing tasting gallery after 12 years: ‘Come raise a glass’
The brewery announced the gallery on Fifth Avenue South will close July 4.
A staple of the Magic City craft beer scene is preparing for a major transition. TrimTab Brewing Co. has announced it will close its tasting gallery on Fifth Avenue South after a successful 12-year run that began during the height of Birmingham’s brewery boom.
Raising a Final Glass
The brewery confirmed via social media that its doors will officially close on July 4. Until that date, the team is inviting the community to stop by for a final pint or to grab some to-go cans.
“We invite you to come raise a glass, and enjoy some beer and community with us between now and July 4,” the brewery shared. “As you are catching a last show in the B Side, grabbing some of your favorite cans to-go, testing your knowledge at Monday trivia, or simply enjoying a pint in the patio, know that we are grateful to the Birmingham community and beyond. We hope to see you in these final weeks.”
A Legacy in Lakeview
TrimTab made its mark in the Lakeview neighborhood in early 2014, quickly establishing itself as an award-winning presence before launching its canned beer lineup in 2015. While the tasting gallery is closing, the brand isn't disappearing entirely; TrimTab noted that its popular TrimTab IPA and Paradise Now will remain available in select markets, with further updates to follow.
Shifting Tides in Alabama
The departure of this local institution comes as Alabama’s craft brewery scene—which proliferated more than a decade ago—navigates a period of contraction. Economic pressures and evolving national drinking trends continue to reshape the industry, leading to a more challenging environment for legacy craft houses as reported by 205focus.com.
