Father shot dead in front of family during argument at Birmingham barber shop

Investigation into the Fatal Shooting
According to Birmingham Police Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead on the sidewalk outside the barber shop.
Preliminary findings suggest the victim and the suspect were acquainted. A physical altercation began outside the building for reasons still under investigation, at which point the suspect produced a weapon and opened fire. The shooter fled the scene immediately after the incident but was tracked down and taken into custody by police a short time later.
Community Impact
The shooting took place while multiple customers were inside the shop, including members of the victim’s own family. Several witnesses were transported to police headquarters for interviews as investigators worked to determine if the suspect was an employee or a patron of the establishment.
