Female Inmate Dies After Being Found Unresponsive in Bessemer City Jail
An inmate at the Bessemer City Jail passed away Thursday after being transported to a hospital.

An inmate at the Bessemer City Jail passed away Thursday after being transported to a hospital.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 35-year-old Ebony Tyner, a resident of Adger.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates reported that jail staff found Tyner unresponsive inside a booking holding cell at 5 p.m. She was alone in the cell at the time.
Tyner was taken to UAB Medical West hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:54 p.m.
No further details have been released, and the incident is currently under investigation by Bessemer police.
