Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium renovation has eye-popping price tag
Project expected to be approved by school’s Board of Trustees on Thursday
The University of Florida is preparing for a massive transformation of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and the project comes with a staggering price tag. As reported by 205focus.com, the university officially unveiled plans for the ambitious renovation project via social media this past Thursday.
A Massive Financial Commitment
The university has budgeted approximately $1.45 billion for the stadium overhaul. According to 247 Sports, funding for the project will be sourced through a mix of private donations, capital reserves, project-generated revenue, and long-term financing, all pending approval from the Florida Board of Governors. The school's Board of Trustees is expected to authorize the project on Thursday.
Modernizing The Swamp
The extensive project is slated for completion in time for the 2030 season. Fans can look forward to major improvements throughout the stadium, including revamped concourses, modern restrooms, upgraded concession stands, and state-of-the-art audio and video systems. The experience will also feature new premium hospitality options, while the Gators' internal facilities—including locker rooms, lounges, and training areas—will receive significant upgrades.
Business as Usual
Despite the massive scope of the work, Florida intends to keep Ben Hill Griffin Stadium operational during the construction process. Fans won't have to wait long to return to the action, as the Gators are set to kick off their 2026 campaign at home against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5.
