Local detectives investigating inmate death at south Alabama jail

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is currently working to determine the circumstances behind the death of an inmate at Metro Jail. Major Crimes detectives have launched an investigation following the passing of a 33-year-old individual housed within the facility.
Inmate Death Under Investigation
According to a news release, jail staff notified the sheriff's office at approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 15. The inmate, identified as Dextarius Tierre Earies, was housed in the jail’s medical clinic at the time of his passing.
In response to the incident, MCSO detectives were dispatched to the jail to conduct a thorough investigation. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has since performed an autopsy to assist in the inquiry.
As reported by 205focus.com, the investigation into the death remains active and ongoing. At this time, no further details have been released to the public.
