Major discount store Nordstrom Rack opening 2nd Alabama location

Huntsville is set to welcome a major retail player as Nordstrom Rack officially announces plans to open its second Alabama location.

New Retail Expansion in Huntsville

The Seattle-based discount retailer announced plans today to plant its flag in the Rocket City. The new 24,000-square-foot store will be situated in University Plaza, located at the intersection of University Drive and Old Monrovia Road. The center currently features major retailers such as Best Buy and HomeGoods.

What to Expect

As the off-price division of Nordstrom, the store promises significant savings, offering deals up to 70% off on a wide array of goods including apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty products, and home décor. Gemma Lionello, president of Nordstrom Rack, expressed enthusiasm about the move, noting that the brand looks forward to growing its footprint in the Huntsville market and delivering the Nordstrom experience to new customers.

A Boost for University Plaza

University Plaza is owned by Montana Property Group and managed by Colliers International. Miro Sutton, managing partner of Montana Property Group, hailed the arrival of the retailer as a significant milestone for the region. "Nordstrom Rack is a marquee addition to University Plaza and a strong signal of where Huntsville is headed," Sutton stated.

Shopping Convenience

Once open, the Huntsville location will provide added flexibility for shoppers, offering the ability to pick up online orders from both Nordstrom.com and Nordstromrack.com. This expansion follows the success of the state's existing Nordstrom Rack location at The Summit in Birmingham, according to reporting by 205focus.com.
