MAX Transit announces free bus service for Tuesday’s primary
MAX Transit is providing free rides on Election Day to help Birmingham and Jefferson County residents get to the polls for Alabama’s primary.

If you are heading to the polls this Tuesday, MAX Transit has you covered. The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority is stepping up to make sure every resident can reach their polling place without a hitch.
Free Rides to the Polls
To support civic participation throughout the primary election on May 19, MAX Transit is waiving fares across three major transportation services: the Magic City Connector, Birmingham Xpress, and all MAX Fixed Route buses.
"We know that reliable transportation plays an important role in civic participation," said Amanda Hare, Director of Marketing and Communications for MAX Transit, in a recent press release. By removing the cost of travel, the transit authority aims to eliminate common barriers and encourage a strong voter turnout across Birmingham and Jefferson County.
Election Day Details
Tuesday’s primary features a wide range of governmental seats up for election. Most races will be decided by the end of the day, though any necessary runoffs are scheduled to take place on June 16.
