New photo trail allows nature lovers to capture scenic spots in north Alabama

Nature enthusiasts looking to capture the perfect shot of North Alabama's breathtaking scenery have a fresh adventure waiting for them. A brand-new photo trail is set to debut next week, offering a curated path to some of the most picturesque locations surrounding Lake Guntersville.

Ribbon Cutting and Launch Details

Marshall County Tourism & Sports is officially kicking off this initiative with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cathedral Caverns State Park.

Inclusion at the Core

The initiative prioritizes accessibility by utilizing specially designed signage at easy-to-reach locations across the region. Each sign features braille elements, ensuring that visually impaired visitors can fully engage with and enjoy the photography experience.

Explore North Alabama's Best Spots

The trail encourages visitors to explore outdoor gems including Cathedral Caverns State Park, Lake Guntersville State Park, and Bucks Pocket State Park. Travelers can also seek out iconic waterfront views, stunning sunsets, and wildlife hotspots, all while enjoying a more accessible tourism experience.

"This project is about creating opportunities for everyone to experience the beauty of Lake Guntersville," said Katy Norton, president of Marshall County Tourism & Sports. "By incorporating accessibility-friendly locations and braille signage, we are helping ensure more visitors can enjoy and connect with these incredible places."

This project was made possible thanks to funding support from the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association via an Accessibility Advancement Grant, paired with a Legislative Tourism Grant from the state of Alabama. By combining tourism promotion with a commitment to inclusivity, the new trail aims to highlight the region as a premier, accessible destination for all.
