The Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament schedule hit a snag in Montgomery on Wednesday night. Due to a series of lengthy weather delays, the highly anticipated opening matchup between South Alabama and Troy has been pushed back to Thursday morning.
New Schedule for Jaguars and Trojans
Fifth-seeded South Alabama (33-21) and fourth-seeded Troy (29-27) are now slated to take the field at 9 a.m. Thursday at DABOS Park. This contest serves as the tournament opener for both squads.
Weather Woes Impact Play
The decision to postpone came after a sluggish day at the ballpark. The Southern Miss vs. Georgia State game faced a delayed start of more than two hours, followed by an additional interruption lasting over an hour during the third inning. Officials opted to move the game rather than force a start well past midnight.
