A Vestavia Hills police officer was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at an elementary school on Friday.
The incident occurred at 11:15 a.m. near Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park.
Capt. Michael Keller stated that the school resource officer was managing traffic at the end of a district-wide professional development event for all school employees.
The officer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
