Five people have been injured in a series of stabbings at New York’s Penn Station, the fire department says.

A violent scene unfolded at New York’s Penn Station on Sunday evening as five individuals were injured in a series of stabbings. According to authorities, a suspect is currently in custody.

City fire department officials confirmed that paramedics arrived on the scene around 7 p.m. One victim sustained a serious injury, while two others suffered moderate injuries. The remaining victims were treated for minor injuries. All five individuals were transported to Bellevue Hospital for further care. While the suspect is in custody, police have not yet released additional details regarding the individual or the incident.

The attack occurred at one of the city's most critical transit hubs, just a day before President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The game is set to take place at Madison Square Garden, which is located directly above the transit station.
