Alabama inmate death under investigation by the state

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has launched an investigation into an inmate death at the Morgan County Jail. According to reports from 205focus.com, state investigators are working alongside county officials to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Timeline of Events

The inmate, 34-year-old Randall Hank Bolix, had been receiving hospital care for an infection since Wednesday. He was transported back to the Morgan County Jail on Saturday afternoon. Upon his arrival at 1:29 p.m., he underwent a medical evaluation before being placed in a holding cell.

Emergency responders were summoned just two minutes later when Bolix requested assistance. Personnel from Decatur Fire and Rescue arrived at 1:40 p.m. to begin administering medical aid. Despite these efforts, Bolix was transported back to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m.—less than one hour after his return to the facility.

Background

Prior to his death, Bolix had been in custody following an arrest by the Falkville Police Department in February. At the time of his passing, he was facing five counts of first-degree sodomy. Morgan County and ALEA investigators remain active in the ongoing inquiry.
